Why people just walk past or just ignore disabled kids?So here is what I think the theme of “Out of My Mind”. A book about a disabled kid named Melody and kids don’t like her and think she is dumb or would be a weird friend but she is really a very smart girl and a really good friend. So I think the theme is don’t judge a book by its cover.
One supporting detail “Finally a little girl named Rose volunteered to sit with Melody.” Students did not want to sit with Melody because she was disabled because she was different for everyone.
Next is,Melody had to have help on her test (it was no choice for her because she couldn’t talk). So Molly and Claire were saying that the helper gave her answers to the test because she had to have a helper to write the answers down because she couldn’t write or talk.”From the back of the class Claire and molly said her helper gave her the answers.” People think kids, like Melody got it good all the help and stuff like that when some can’t do anything even talk to their parents.
Finaly,”Dr.Hugely said Melody would never develop an education,So Dr.Hugely said you can either keep her at home or put her in a special kid school.” Everyone is judging her by her problem and no one knows she is a genius because she can’t talk.So don’t just judge people by what their problems are or what the look like.Don’t just walk past disabled kids.(Recognize them).
